Tie Dye Especial

The second photo shows how this strap was made. It started with a tie-dyed t-shirt found at a local thrift store. The shirt was cut in a spiral to make one long ribbon about 1/2″ wide. The ribbon, when stretched, curled into a nice tube shape, allowing me to use it like a fat yarn. The woven strap used every bit of the yarn made from the shirt.

I love this! I bet it’s soft, too. I’ll be looking for a tie-dye tee and talking to you about a commission. How long is the strap you made with one tee?

Jan, I make all the guitar straps about 60″. T-shirts come in all sizes so I never know how much yarn one will produce. Look for one which doesn’t have side seams (many women’s tees do). It would be fun to make you one! ~Annie
